Human, Importance of Baby Feeding Bottles

Choosing whether to breastfeed or bottle feed your baby with expressed breast milk or formula is an important decision every mom needs to make before the arrival of their little one. Although breast milk is considered the best nutritional choice, for some mothers, breastfeeding may not always be the option due to low breast milk supply, a medical condition or any other reason that may be out of the mom’s control.

In this case, baby formula is a great alternative to make sure your baby is fed and gets all their daily nutrients. Even if you choose to primarily breastfeed your baby, you may also consider doing a mix of both, which is absolutely fine too! So if you’re not sure about why baby feeding bottles might be important and beneficial both for your baby and family, here are a few reasons why:

Flexibility

One of the benefits of bottle feeding is that either parent can feed the baby. When on a breastfeeding schedule it can be quite difficult for the nursing mom to leave the house without the baby. However, when choosing to bottle feed your baby expressed breast milk or formula it comes with more flexibility and allows you to leave your little one with your partner or caregiver if you need to step out of the house for a few hours. It also helps to give you a sense of relief knowing that even if you’re not around your little one will be fed and taken care of.

Family Bonding

Feeding is also an important bonding moment with your little one. Breastfeeding helps nursing mothers bond with their babies and bottle feeding gives dad and siblings the opportunity to bond with the baby too!

Feeding on the Go

If you’re not comfortable breastfeeding your baby in public, bottle feeding is a great alternative too. There may be times where you and your little are out of the house during your usual feeding time and schedule. Having breastmilk or formula prepared can help you feed your baby without feeling uncomfortable about it.

Lactose Intolerant

In very rare cases, some babies are lactose intolerant and therefore not able to process breast milk or cow’s milk. In this case, bottle feeding your baby is a must and important as your little one will need a more suitable milk option such as soy or oat milk.

Challenges That Come With Bottle Feeding

Although there are many flexible and convenient benefits to bottle feeding, there are also a few down sides. In particular, if you choose to bottle feed your baby with formula, having to buy formula on a regular basis, can get quite expensive overtime. Also, formula is of course not as nutritious as breast milk.

However, whether you choose to breastfeed or bottle feed your little one, the most important thing is that your baby is fed, has their nutrients and stays healthy and happy.
